New Year – 2017

Hey y’all and Happy New Year!

I hate to be cliché, but didn’t 2016 just begin yesterday?! It flew by… or so it seems.

Welcome to my first blog post of 2017 (side note: how is it already 2017?)!

Here are some Bible verses that I am loving as we begin the new year.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'” – Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

“‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?'” – Matthew 6:25-27 (NIV)

The last two are big ones for me, especially in this season of life. As we go into the new year, we are almost blindfolded. We don’t know what is in store for us. But I have faith that everything is done in God’s time and for His purpose. I know he’s walking alongside of me and, in the new year, I will do my absolute best to not be anxious and to not worry about minor things.

I’m not one to create resolutions, because, let’s be honest, they don’t last. But I really want to focus on being present – living in the now + stepping out of my comfort zone – and strengthening my walk with Christ (and maybe updating this blog a time or two.)

My biggest tips for the new year are to buy a year-long planner in order to write down everything, stay positive + don’t surround yourself with negativity (one that I am really going to work towards this year – sometimes I am that negative person), be grateful and PRAY (something I also need to be better at.)

I hope that 2017 is one of health, safety and happy, memorable moments.

Happy New Year!
