Motivation Monday: Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Hey y’all —

Happy Monday!

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. day. If you know me, then you know that I find Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to be one of the most influential people to have been alive. I have always said that he would be on the list of people I’d want to have dinner with. His voice and vision gave our nation a sense of hope; his words filled with compassion, justice and courage.

Here are some of my favorite quotes of his:

“If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl. But, whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.”

“I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

“I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. That is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant.”

When I was in D.C. last year, I got so giddy to stand exactly where he stood during his “I Have a Dream” speech.

This is the very spot where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stood to deliver his “I Have a Dream” speech. // “I have a dream that one day, every valley shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be made low. The rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight. And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.”

In today’s culture (most of which is hateful and politically charged), we need more people to be like Dr. King. Spread love, kindness, and be a voice for the voiceless.

Thanks for reading! Have a great week, friends!
