Book of the Month: A Novel Idea – April 2018

Hey y’all –

Somehow, I managed to read yet another book this month! I’m officially up to 6 this year, which is 6 more than I’ve read on my own terms in years. Below, I’m linking my other posts, in case you want to see what other books I’ve read this year.

Without further ado, let’s get on with the book ‘review’!

This month’s book was Mrs. Fletcher by Tom Perrotta. I read some good reviews about Mrs. Fletcher, so it was one of the first books that I requested to be on the waiting list for. I’ve been on the waiting list at the library since January 1. Yes, it took FOUR WHOLE MONTHS to get off of that dang waiting list.

Prior to reading this, I had absolutely no idea what it was about. I went in blind. And, let me tell you, that was no fun! Lesson learned: I like to know what I’m about to get myself into. For starters… this book is definitely for mature audiences. Second… I was so into it during the first few chapters and then it stalled. Womp, womp.

I didn’t find there to be much of a storyline, the characters were so-so and I just didn’t feel fully engaged. Maybe it’s because of the fact that a majority of the books I’ve read this year are suspenseful thrillers and this wasn’t? Regardless, I was disappointed that I waited four months for that.

Have you read Mrs. Fletcher? If so, what were your thoughts? If not, what are you currently reading or what do you plan to read in the future? I’d love to hear — my list grows by the day!

Thanks for reading!
